Mara Franklin

Mara Franklin started her career at a young age by designing prom dresses for her Barbie dolls.  She later went on to attend the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and received two BFAs – one in Metalsmithing and one in Art History.  Because she wasn’t quite ready to enter the real world, she went on to receive an MA from New York University in Costume Studies/Decorative Arts.
Mara kept making unique creations, and friends suggested she sell some of them online.  In December of 2005, she started selling on eBay, and also later on Etsy and her website, under the name “Indiscretion”.  She creates two different lines in addition to making many Cosplay costumes.  Indiscretion has been described as Japanese street-wear meets the 80s, with a side of Goth.  Haute Indiscretion has a darker feel, and can be described as Shabby Chic meets Steampunk.
Her work has been featured in the Alibi, Altered Couture, New Mexico Magazine and other publications.  To find out more about Indiscretion, go to http://www.indiscretion.us.
